Delivered by Prime’s LIFT Company, BaS LIFT, West Heath Primary Care Centre is the result of the local primary care trust’s vision to update and improve healthcare services for the local community.
With the existing GP surgery housed in a converted Victorian house, space was limited and unable to meet the demands of modern primary care. A site was secured within walking distance of the current premises, giving the practice the opportunity to expand its service offering while still remaining accessible for patients and staff.
Making a big visual impact in a small space, this centre has become a local landmark with its bright red entrance canopy, contrasting with a feature wall of blue glazed brick. The illuminated photographic artwork on the waiting area walls was developed by artists working with local school children and creates a mood of calm as well as a sense of community ownership.
As well as relocating the GP surgery, the new building houses a minor surgery suite, PCT office accommodation and a base for local district nurses, bringing a number of disparate services together on one site.
The builders might have thought of this as a small building but it doesn’t feel small to us!”
Christine Stanford, Practice Manager, West Heath Primary Care Centre
