The original Maryfield Medical Centre had no flexibility for remodelling due to the ‘bee nest’ design, which meant all walls were load-bearing.
The first floor was obsolete because the building did not have a lift, making it non-DDA compliant.
Following a detailed search for land, Prime located a new site near a leisure centre that included a playing field. After managing a long, detailed public consultation process the centre was approved. As part of this process Prime also agreed to contribute to local art. As a stone wall formed part of the original site entrance, Prime commissioned an artist to create new gates to add further interest to this part of Dundee.
