As part of a £4 million Government cash injection to tackle deprivation and a shortage of GPs in the Potteries area, this innovative scheme has seen the transformation of a former Hanley bank into a one-stop health centre.

The refurbishment completed by the Staffordshire LIFTCo, Prima 200, has created a welcoming, modern space to encourage take-up of the new walk-in facility, while incorporating a ‘shop-front’ exterior to enable the centre to sit comfortably within its high street location.

The vibrant, red interior design scheme creates a less clinical feel for patients, with the building’s flexible layout accommodating a wide range of health and social care services, including GP and nurse treatment, physiotherapy, counselling, healthcare and phlebotomy. The centre opens 8am – 8pm, seven days a week, 365 days a year and offers anyone medical advice and consultation without the need to register with a GP at the centre and without an appointment.

This new scheme required a whole new approach. The intelligent design and careful organisation meant that the job was completed with very low stress levels and the result was absolutely fantastic.”
