Providing University Hospital Southampton staff with access to refreshments at the Adanac Health and Innovation Campus

A new Costa Coffee is complete at the Adanac Health and Innovation Campus – a health, research and enterprise hub in the Nursling area of Southampton.

The drive-thru coffee shop has been built on Plot 4 of the campus, adjacent to the Park and Ride. It provides parking for 31 vehicles, including accessible spaces and a waiting bay.

At least 15 new jobs have been created by the new Costa, which offers those working at the campus access to refreshments throughout the day, reducing the need for additional journeys in and out of the site during break times. It also caters to University Hospital Southampton staff using the Park and Ride at the beginning and end of their shifts. As well as operating as a drive-thru for customers on the go, the building offers indoor seating for customers and outdoor tables.

Commuters and employees based at the campus and local residents benefit from a food and beverage option within walking distance of their vehicle, workplace or home. This increased footfall will provide a boost to the local economy.

A specialist arboriculture consultant was appointed during the construction phase to protect and promote planting. Tree crates and porous tarmac were installed to allow trees to be planted close to the drive-thru lane, enhancing the opportunity for root growth and protecting the roots of a protected tree on the Campus.
