Strategic estates partnering

We have a wide range of experience in public and private partnerships, from joint ventures or frameworks to deliver a programme of developments and manage operational investments, to project specific partnerships with Trusts and GPs. When we are asked to work in partnership, we aim to deliver innovative solutions and commercial benefits to our partners and clients.

Strategic Estates Partnerships (SEPs)

What is a SEP?

Strategic Estates Partnerships (SEPs) are joint ventures between NHS Trusts and private sector organisations, offering the NHS a new way to unlock the potential of its estate.

By combining the expertise and resources of the public and private sector, these long term partnerships enable Trusts to accelerate the process of aligning their estates and facilities with strategic aims, while improving the patient experience, optimising efficiency and seizing commercial opportunities.

Prime’s understanding of health economies, service modelling, operational requirements and public sector accounting means it brings a complete range of skills and solutions to a partnership – from property and commercial knowhow to access to flexible and affordable private finance.

The benefits of a SEP

With NHS Trusts facing greater pressures from increased demand and reduced access to capital funding, SEPs are a means of financing and developing new facilities to increase the pace of transformation.

As well as generating savings and efficiencies, they also offer Trusts the opportunity to find new ways to earn income from their estate, which can then be reinvested into frontline services.

Whatever the driver behind a SEP partnership, they offer a number of key benefits:

Joint Ventures (JVs)

Prime has delivered property advice and funding expertise for the NHS as part of the development of the award winning new St Catherine’s Health Centre in Birkenhead delivered through Procure 21.

We’re proud to be part of a programme that continues to raise the standard of health and social care infrastructure for so many communities. As part of Prime LIFT Investments Ltd, Prime is a partner to Community Health Partnerships (CHP) a wholly owned subsidiary of the Department of Health.

Our LIFT buildings are designed to meet an increasingly wide range of community needs with health services often co-located with other public services and commercial tenants. Developments can include pharmacies, shops, extra care accommodation and more.

Prime’s healthcare development expertise, which spans more than 20 years working at the forefront of the sector, includes a wealth of experience in supply chain management, ensuring an open and transparent approach on each and every project. Having delivered goods and services for the NHS and a range of other public sector clients, Prime’s experience and knowledge is focused on improving value for money and delivering projects on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

The Private Investment Construction (PIC) Framework was launched by Prime in May 2017 and is a ready-made construction framework for the NHS and other public sector bodies, providing a mechanism for bringing private sector investment into new build and refurbishment projects. Sponsored by strategic estates partner, Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, it opens up access to vital sources of private funding for new facilities and estate improvements, while transforming environments for patients, visitors and staff.
