The Prime Foundation Welcomes Applications for £11k Grant to Fund Community Projects in Southampton for the Second Time

Organisations and community groups in Southampton are being encouraged to apply for a grant of up to £11,000 from the Prime Foundation to help towards local projects or initiatives.

The Foundation invests in communities where Prime has built new facilities by utilising a proportion of profit generated – ensuring with each build that money is invested locally for good causes. Prime are developing the Park & Ride at Adanac Health and Innovation Campus in Southampton and as such are now accepting applications from all SO postcodes.

Southampton-based projects which match one or more of the foundation’s aims: advancing education outside the classroom, promoting good physical and mental health and/or furthering the enhancement of social wellbeing through recreation will be considered for full or part funding.

The Prime Foundation grants have previously supported a number of causes across Southampton. In 2019 Monty’s Bike Hub, who run bike workshops, weekly repair sessions and skills training sessions, received funding to upgrade their workshop and invest in new tools and storage. Josh Allen, Bike Hub Manager, said “the funding from the Prime Foundation has been instrumental in enabling us to develop the new workshop at our site. Monty’s Bike Hub has created a safe space for locals to learn new skills, make friends and support the community. Having a purpose-built workshop has made this happen more efficiently and safely”.

In the same year, the Prime Foundation funded a specially adapted bicycle, otherwise known as a trishaw, to support Sustrans in helping the elderly community in Weston Shore enjoy the great outdoors. Genna Handley, Sustrans representative, said “the trishaw has had an impact in helping the older generation look for activities, connecting them with communities and the environment which has been so important for their mental health”.

Applications for funding are open from now until the 15th June 2022. For more information or to make an application visit Foundation Grant Application for Southampton Region | Prime plc
