Prime’s proposal for a Costa Coffee to be built as part of Adanac Health & Innovation Campus has been given the go ahead by Test Valley Borough Council. The campus is a health, research and enterprise hub in the Nursling area of Southampton.
The drive thru coffee shop will be on Plot 4 of the campus, adjacent to the Park and Ride. It will have parking space for 31 vehicles, including accessible spaces and a waiting bay.
The Costa will provide at least 15 new jobs and offer those working on campus access to refreshments throughout the day, lessening the need for additional journeys in and out of the campus at breaktimes. It will also cater to University Hospital Southampton staff accessing the Park and Ride at the beginning and end of their shifts. The proposed building will have indoor seating for customer use, outdoor tables and a drive thru window for customers on-the-go.
Gavin Hunter, Development Surveyor at Prime, said: “Achieving planning permission is a key milestone for the Costa Coffee drive-thru at the Adanac Health & Innovation Campus. The facility will provide a valuable amenity to hundreds of NHS employees using the campus, as well as the local community.”
“With the achievement of planning approval, we’re pleased to take a crucial step in providing this amenity for the people working within and travelling to and from the campus each day. Commuters, employees based at the campus and local residents will benefit from a food and beverage option within walking distance of their vehicle, workplace or home. The increased footfall from the local community and weekend visitors will also provide a boost for the local economy.”
