Ewan Forsyth, Development Director for Prime, will be speaking alongside Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BCHC) at a King’s Fund event on Tuesday 6 February, to discuss the successful partnership model which delivered the Birmingham Dental Hospital and School of Dentistry.
The project will be presented to delegates as part of a programme of speakers and case studies focused on the topic of ‘Partnership Models in the NHS’. Each will demonstrate different partnership solutions, share best practice and provide guidance on effective collaboration between the public and private sector.
Birmingham Dental Hospital and School of Dentistry was developed by Prime for local LIFTCo, BaS LIFT, in partnership with BCHC, the University of Birmingham, design team One Creative Environments Ltd and Calthorpe Estates. The first integrated, standalone dental hospital and dental school to be built in the UK for almost 40 years, the £50m building is the largest scheme to be delivered using the LIFT initiative.
At the event, Ewan will be talking about the innovative partnership working which made the project possible alongside Joanne Thurston, Chief Operating Officer for BCHC. They will discuss how the partnership worked in practice, the benefits, outcomes, and how the public and private sector can successfully work in partnership to deliver a shared vision and enable true service integration.
After the presentation, delegates will have the chance to ask questions before breaking into smaller groups for facilitated discussions and table work, looking at the lessons and learnings from the Birmingham Dental Hospital project which could be applied to their own estate or clinical challenges.
Ewan said: “We were honoured to be invited to speak at the King’s Fund event and to be able to share our partnership experiences with other members of the healthcare profession. Birmingham Dental Hospital and School of Dentistry is a project that everyone involved is exceptionally proud of – from the way the partnership worked and the world-class building we delivered together, to the improved outcomes for patients, students and staff.”
