ASPIE is a social, support and therapy group for adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). They provide a centre in Worcester where autistic adults can seek community in a welcome environment, socialising without the same pressures they may find challenging in day-to-day life.
ASPIE’s art therapy group was relying on materials brought in by their resident art therapist, alongside donations. With funding from the Prime foundation, they were able to buy new materials and equipment.
The group continues to be successful, encouraging members to collaborate on projects for community events like the local Worcester art trail and Christmas tree festival.
“Some new members are quite withdrawn when the first join ASPIE but love art. They find our art therapy group a calm and comforting release of anxiety in the company of others and our therapist. ”
