Energy Performance Legislation
DISPLAY ENERGY CERTIFICATE
Display Energy Certificates (DECS) are part of the implementation of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive by the United Kingdom. DEC’s promote the improvement of the energy performance of buildings by raising the public awareness of energy use.
From the 1st October 2008 every occupier of a building in England and Wales which requires a DEC must display it in a prominent place where it is clearly visible to the public.
The requirements in Scotland will differ slightly and are effective from 04 January 2009.
