Meir Primary Care Centre is a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ landmark building, which typifies a new, more sustainable model of community healthcare delivered by Prime through Prima 200 LIFT on behalf of NHS Stoke-on-Trent.

The centre brings together a wide range of services for 18,000 patients including: Six local GP practices, paediatrics, physiotherapy and sexual health advice services, dental services and an out-of-hours, onsite pharmacy, a multi-purpose community suite and space to deliver healthcare training and for a GP registrar.

The building’s innovative four-storey layout encourages integrated working between services and incorporates a mezzanine waiting area and a central open atrium with two external entrances.

Meir Primary Care Centre is an example of how Prime works flexibly with the local LIFTCo to deliver new healthcare facilities quickly and efficiently, whatever the size and service requirement, with community interest always in mind.

With the development of a prestigious, local landmark building, the centre signals community pride and regeneration. Meir demonstrates how, by working with a single vision and determination, GPs, the NHS, community and the private sector can make a positive difference. What’s more, the building is designed for the future and can be reconfigured to suit new or varying service needs.

We have had a lot of positive feedback from our patients so far. This has been 12 months in the making and it will greatly benefit the people of the local area as it is easily accessible and offers a wider range of services.”
